Igaaza Creations is a Uganda-based social enterprise officially registered in 2019. We are committed to advancing foundational literacy, creative storytelling, and sustainable development. Our work spans education, research, and community engagement—producing culturally relevant storybooks and offering expert consultancy services across Uganda and the region. Rooted in the belief that every child deserves joyful and transformative reading experiences, we blend storytelling with evidence-based impact. Teacher Capacity Building We equip educators with practical skills to teach reading effectively in resource-limited settings. Our approach includes: • Workshop- and webinar-based training • Tailored materials on word recognition and comprehension • Storybooks with instructional support guides • Strategies for guided reading and diverse learner support • Parental engagement tools to encourage reading at home

Research & Development Consultancy We deliver high-quality research and evaluation services in education, health, gender, climate, and youth. Income from consultancy projects supports grassroots literacy programmes. Our services include: • Baseline and endline evaluations • Mixed-methods and qualitative research • Curriculum-aligned storybook development • Learning briefs, case studies, and communications • Tool design, data analysis, and knowledge products • Technical editing and participatory content review

Uganda faces a foundational learning crisis that threatens children’s futures and community development. According to the 2022 Uwezo National Learning Assessment, only 3 out of 10 Primary 3 pupils can read a basic English story, and fewer than half of Primary 7 learners meet literacy benchmarks. The World Bank’s 2023 Learning Poverty Report estimates over 80% of children in low-income countries, including Uganda, cannot read and understand a simple text by age 10. This crisis extends beyond the classroom—parents and caregivers rarely read with children, and many teachers lack the skills and motivation to teach reading effectively. These gaps impact educational attainment, workforce readiness, and civic participation. Igaaza Creations addresses this challenge through three pillars: • Research & Development – creating locally relevant stories, tools, and evidence-based methodologies. • Publishing – producing accessible, multilingual, and culturally affirming storybooks. • Teacher Capacity Building – delivering inclusive training to strengthen classroom literacy instruction.

Our Mission We operate on a sustainability-driven model that blends publishing, research, and capacity-building. Our storybooks and creative learning materials are designed to foster literacy and imagination. We support community reading tents, classroom libraries, and multimedia innovations such as musicals and puzzles.
